Carolyn Castiglia is a multi-disciplinary artist who employs stand-up, storytelling, music, and more to wow audiences with her powerfully funny and endearing performances. Audiences routinely call her hilarious, amazing, kickass/badass, vulnerable, and human.
Her latest hour, Carolyn Castiglia: Cool Mom, began to tour in 2020, with its first stop at Franky Bradley’s (Philly) just before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Throughout her creative life, Carolyn has been a performer, writer, teacher, producer, and director. She served as the casting producer of Adrienne Truscott’s critically-acclaimed 2019 run of (Still) Asking For It at Joe’s Pub, in which she also appeared. In 2018, she developed the Women, Stand Up! course at The PIT, which she taught for nearly 2 years, and worked as the Head of Editorial & Creator Community at Laugh Exchange, a comedy app featured in Variety and The New York Times. Carolyn continues to offer one-on-one coaching for comedians who want to more deeply personalize their material and grow more confident in their performance. She also acts a consultant to GOLD Comedy.
Carolyn has appeared on numerous television and streaming networks including Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, Lifetime, HLN, fyi, WE tv, Food Network, NickMom, Seeso and more. She performs regularly all over New York at renowned venues including Joe’s Pub, Symphony Space, Ars Nova, The Bell House, Union Hall, Littlefield, Caveat, UCB, Caroline’s, Gotham, The Stand, Stand Up New York, and New York Comedy Club. Internationally, she has performed at The Comedy Cafe in Amsterdam and The Edinburgh Fringe. Other festival appearances include the New York Comedy Festival (2019), WOOtenanny (2019), Bad Bitch Revolution Fest (2019 headliner), Cinder Block Comedy Festival, Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, LAFF Austin, North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, Women in Comedy Festival and more.
Carolyn’s past projects include Daughter Knows Best, a comedy podcast for parents and kids, and the live, late-night feminist talk show Right NOW! with Carolyn Castiglia, which ran at The Slipper Room and Union Hall, and aired on BRIC TV. Long-running, live stand-up shows she has hosted and produced include Laying It Down with Carolyn & Shalewa at Madame X, Rifftown at The Creek & The Cave, Splurge! at Happy Ending, and Chicks and Giggles at Mo Pitkins.
Carolyn is a member of The Intersectionals, the choir featured in Jean Grae’s Church of the Infinite You. Other musical appearances include her many winning comedic freestyle battles on Battlicious (UCB), Eat Your Beats (Cinder Block Comedy Festival, Good Good Comedy Theatre), and more, as well as multiple performances on Our Hit Parade at Joe’s Pub.
As if that’s not enough, Carolyn is also an award-winning writer whose work has appeared all over the web on outlets like NBC News, Yahoo!, Jezebel, The Frisky, Your Tango and more. She spent 4 years as a full-time blogger for (the now defunct) Babble.com, where she covered parenting, relationships and pop culture.
